Matt Frewer brings a flippant, cynical edge to his interpretation of the master detective in these two Canadian productions from the early 2000s. In The Hound of the Baskervilles Holmes seeks to uncover the truth behind a monstrous, supernatural hound that roams the moors, attacking the heirs to a wealthy estate. Not to be confused with Doyle's The Adventure of the Sussex Vampire, The Case of the Whitechapel Vampire is based on an original script by series director Rodney Gibbons about South American vampire bats that prey on English monks. A bonus CD features the London Symphony Orchestra and others performing macabre works from Berlioz, Mozart, Gounod, Brahms, and other composers.
