Born in Zurich and educated in America, European photographer Roger Eberhard is perhaps better known for his ethereal landscapes of a faded American West. In the series of 47 photographs here, however, Eberhard explores the surprisingly feminine landscapes of a single plant, the calla lily. His images of callas in various light—captured as waves of highlight and shadow against a deep black background, or washed in a gauzy flood of light against a plain white background—are tightly cropped, allowing the image to focus on the plant's sensuous curves. Each image (most are in color) is presented on a plain white page without text. An episodic essay introduces the artist and his work.
