|
This loose remake of the Frank Capra classic stars Adam Sandler in the Gary Cooper role of Longfellow Deeds, an amiable rube who inherits a vast fortune from a long-lost uncle and moves into a palatial mansion to run his newly acquired corporate empire. Once there he must foil the machinations of a greedy executive (Peter Gallagher) and win the heart of an undercover reporter (Winona Ryder), who's been mocking his small-town naiveté in print while posing as a sympathetic school nurse. John Turturro steals all of the scenes he appears in as a "sneaky, sneaky" butler with a foot fetish in this 2002 film. This Special Edition contains outtakes, director and writer commentary, three featurettes, and a Dave Matthews music video.
