In the mid-1990s, collectors Aviva and Jack Robinson donated 78 superlative works in glass from their collection of studio glass to the Detroit Institute of Art. This beautifully illustrated catalog surveys the Robinson collection to discuss studio glass within the context of contemporary fine arts, which as a community was reluctant to accept glass as a true artistic medium. Bonita Fike presents works from Harvey Littleton, Dominick Labino, Marvin Lipofsky, Dale Chihuly, Ginny Ruffner, and Toots Zynsky, among 57 artists, with a bibliography on writings related to the studio glass movement.
