Compiled with the assistance of her daughter Denise Epstein, Woman of Letters explores the life of Irène Némirovsky, author of the landmark novel Suite Française. Born in Kiev in 1903, Némirovsky immigrated to France during the Russian Revolution, becoming a celebrated Parisian writer between the wars, but was imprisoned by the Nazis and died in Auschwitz in 1942. This scrapbook-like biography presents more than 100 photographs, letters, and documents from the family archive, as well as a translation of the last short story published in Némirovsky's lifetime and her notes for Captivity, the unfinished third volume of Suite Française.
