Description

|
When 9-year-old Max (Max Records) is sent to bed without his supper, he runs away and sails across the sea to a wondrous land of gigantic fuzzy monsters, who are more appreciative of his destructive impulses than his mom (Catherine Keener). The monsters soon make the diminutive Max king, hoping he can bring cohesion to the beasts' fractured family. Spike Jonze's visually stunning 2009 adaptation of Maurice Sendak's celebrated ode to the trials of childhood features the voices of such veteran actors as James Gandolfini, Catherine O'Hara, Chris Cooper, and Forest Whitaker, as well as a Golden Globe–nominated musical score.
