Digitally restored from the original film negatives, this show biz classic has been reconstructed here to nearly its original length under the direction of film historian Ronald Haver. The 1954 film received six Academy Award nominations, including best acting nods to Judy Garland, as the unknown band singer Esther Blodgett who is transformed into major star Vicki Lester, and James Mason, as the aging, alcoholic mogul responsible for her success; both won Golden Globes for their performances. This two-disc Deluxe Edition contains nearly four hours of extras including deleted scenes and alternate filmings of four musical numbers and one dramatic sequence, over an hour of rare recording session music, and footage of the Hollywood premiere and post-premiere Coconut Grove party.
