Originally published in 1851, this classic work by anatomist Louis Agassiz describes how comparative anatomy can be applied to paleontology, embryology, ecology, and biogeography, and provided Charles Darwin and other evolutionists with evidence from the fossil record to support the theory of natural selection. Ironically, Agassiz himself remained a staunch opponent to evolution, unable to reconcile himself to a theory that did not invoke God's design. This is an unabridged reproduction of the 1962 Harvard University Press edition.
