Description
|
|
|
|
Based on the Pulitzer Prize–winning novel by Oscar Hijuelos, this percolating 1992 musical drama features Antonio Banderas (in his first English-speaking role) and Armand Assante as Cuban musician brothers who bring their native dance music to New York. They receive a big break when Desi Arnaz (played by Desi Arnaz Jr.) has them appear on I Love Lucy, and they are soon anointed the "Mambo Kings." The late Celia Cruz and Tito Puente offer cameo performances and Linda Ronstadt, Los Lobos, and several other Latin bands appear on the stirring soundtrack.
