Renée Zellweger won a Golden Globe Award in 2001 for her performance in this offbeat comedy about a woman who enters into her own fantasy world. A Kansas City waitress who dreams of being a nurse, Betty (Zellweger) is so shocked after the murder of her no-good husband that she suddenly believes she is a nurse on her favorite television soap opera, and drives off to Los Angeles to find the fictional hospital where her idol Dr. Ravell (Greg Kinnear) is a cardiologist. Meanwhile, her husband's killers (Morgan Freeman and Chris Rock) are after her, and the older hit man begins to be drawn into Betty's delusion as well. The DVD extras include episodes from Betty's soap opera, "A Reason to Live."
