Description

|
|
After decades of steady work in the shipyards of Glasgow, Frank Redmond (Peter Mullan) finds himself middle-aged and unemployed. He clashes with his stay-at-home son (Jamie Sives) and is suspicious over the frequent absences of his wife Joan (Brenda Blethyn), who is secretly taking lessons to become a bus driver. Concerned about his declining health and desperate to restore his self-esteem, Frank decides he will train to swim the English Channel. Director Gaby Dellal's gentle, heartwarming film about mending broken relationships was nominated for the Grand Jury Price at Sundance in 2005.
