Christopher Guest and his troupe of improvisational comics take a satirical but ultimately affectionate look at obsessive dog show participants—and the canines that love them—in this Golden Globe–nominated film from 2000. They include squabbling yuppies Parker Posey and Michael Hitchcock, trophy wife Jennifer Coolidge and her ace handler Jane Lynch, Shih-Tzu–doting partners Michael Kean and John Michael Higgins, Eugene Levy and randy wife Catherine O'Hara, and Guest, himself, as a fly-fishing shop owner who fancies himself a ventriloquist. Anchoring the proceedings is Fred Willard as a loopy TV commentator.
