Born in the Bavarian Forest region, where much of Germany's finest glassworks are produced, Aloys Gangkofner (1920–2003) taught artistic glass design at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts over four decades. His commercial lighting designs, elegant serving pieces, and such one-of-a-kind artistic installations as the rainbow-making prism wall of the Weldfriedhof war graves monument in Munich earned him worldwide acclaim. Assembled by his wife and collaborator Ilsebill Gangkofner and illustrated with black and white and color photos, this monograph (in German and English) traces Gangkofner's collaborations with Lamberts and Hesse Glassworks and with lighting manufacturers Peill & Putzler and ERCO, as well as his commissions for public spaces.
