The wind begins to blow hard, in this sweet fable for readers up to 8, though the people in the Village of Basketeers remain happy and unconcerned. But the wind blows harder the next day, and the next, until everyone has to be tied to someone else, and the moon is blown out of the clouds. A man weaves the strongest basket he ever made, but the wind just blows him away; a woman weaves the biggest basket ever seen, but she too is swept up. Youngsters Kip and Elsa wonder then if maybe what they need instead is the tiniest, softest basket to stop the wind. Italian artist Nicoletta Ceccoli pictures the tale in pastel colors and stylized, round-headed people.
