In this second collection in the series, the Gang accidentally stow away on an authentic pirate ship, capture a Japanese spy ring, beat a rival gang, and foil counterfeiters. In the 1940s MGM studios licensed Dell to produce a series of comic books based on the Our Gang series of kid comedies created by Hal Roach (and later seen on television as The Little Rascals). Penned largely by Pogo creator Walt Kelly, the Our Gang comics brought back the rollicking, slapstick humor that the films had when Roach produced them. By 1944, Kelly took over the characters completely and introduced new ones, creating his own, fully realized, kid-sized world for them. This collection presents full color reproductions of the originals, with introductions by Kelly scholar Steve Thompson and covers by cartoonist Jeff Smith.
