So wrote Opera News when this great Austrian singer died in 2006 at age 90. In recognition of her supremacy as the Countess in Der Rosenkavalier, this set includes a long excerpt from Act 2. Her Mozart is sampled in the "Exsultate, jubilate" motet for soprano and orchestra; the set also includes Puccini arias (e.g., "Oh mio babbino caro"), the "Sandman" scene from Hänsel und Gretel, and six of Dvorák's Moravian Duets, as well as a sparkling fountain of operetta excerpts (from The Gypsy Baron, Die Fledermaus, The Land of Smiles, The Merry Widow, and more).
