"Scottish white wood products" and "Scottish fancy goods" are two of the many terms once used to describe what has now come to be known as Mauchline Ware. From 1830 to 1930, the souvenir woodware industry in the small Scottish town of Mauchline produced an endless variety of wood products decorated with printed images and patterns ranging from simple black transfers to exquisite reproductions of tartan patterns as crisp and colorful as the original cloth. This detailed collector's guide is illustrated with almost 400 plates, nearly all of which are in color.
