|
Johannes Kugelmann (c. 1495–1542), a trumpeter at the imperial court in Innsbruck, later became Kapellmeister at the Prussian ducal court in Königsberg. His collection of sacred music published in 1540 was the first Lutheran collection after Johann Walther's pioneering hymnal of 1524. Included here is a selection of hymns using either one voice and two recorders or three recorders. Countertenor Bernhard Landauer sings six works in addition to the movements of a Latin Mass.
