Description
Earning her first Academy Award for her iconic performance in this 1969 drama, Maggie Smith portrays Jean Brodie, an unconventional teacher in a Scottish girls' school in the 1930s. Following her credo, "I am in the business of putting old heads on young shoulders.... Give me a girl at an impressionable age, and she is mine for life," Brodie espouses her wisdom on art and music, defends fascism, and encourages independent thinking in her students. But her influence on these young minds often has unexpected and bitter consequences. Pamela Franklin brilliantly co-stars as her student Sandy, while Robert Stephens and Gordon Jackson play the two men that Brodie entrances.
