After breaking his leg photographing a racetrack accident, a professional photographer (James Stewart) is confined to his apartment, using a wheelchair while he recuperates. Watching his neighbors from his apartment window, he believes a murder has been committed and enlists his socialite girlfriend (Grace Kelly) to help prove it in this 1954 thriller; one of Alfred Hitchcock's most stylish films, it is No. 42 on the American Film Institute's list of its 100 greatest American films and was nominated for four Oscars (director, cinematography, screenplay, and sound). The bonuses on this digitally remastered set include Rear Window Ethics; an interview with screenwriter John Michael Hayes; a feature-length audio commentary by John Falwell (Hitchcock's Rear Window: The Well-Made Film); and two featurettes, Pure Cinema: Through the Eyes of the Master and Breaking Barriers: The Sound of Hitchcock, with comments by Martin Scorsese, John Carpenter, William Friedkin, Guillermo Del Toro, and others.

"The captivating atmosphere and intrigue of the story is what draws us in and holds us there. Unexpected doses of comedy and genuine dread are balanced perfectly, keeping us off-balance during the duration of the picture. From start to finish, Rear Window is simply a film that's more than the sum of its parts: everything fits together so naturally that it's practically non-fiction. Whether you've yet to see the film or have viewed it frequently during the last 50-odd years, Rear Window delivers the goods each and every time."óDVD Talk
