(2014 Gramophone Magazine Award Nominee) Isabelle Faust's recording of Bartók sonatas early in her career won her a Gramophone award for Young Artist of the Year. Here she makes an eagerly awaited return to Bartók with two concertos. The first—a work that reflected Bartók's romance with a young violinist—was neither performed nor published in his lifetime; The Guardian calls this rendition "probably the most beautiful and subtly nuanced version available." Faust picked up a Gramophone Award in 2012 for her recording of the Beethoven and Berg violin concertos (she's also received the Diapason d’Or). "Her sound has passion, grit and electricity but also a disarming warmth and sweetness that can unveil the music’s hidden strains of lyricism" wrote the New York Times, and Andrew Clements of The Guardian marveled at "the vast palette of colour that Faust always seems to have at her disposal." Acclaimed for her recordings of chamber and orchestral music, both classical and modern, Faust plays the "Sleeping Beauty" Stradivarius of 1704.

"The epic Second concerto is even better. This is surely one of the great recordings of the piece. The long first movement flies by without a single dead spot, despite (or because of) huge contrasts in tempo between sections."—Classics Today
