Description
The three-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee is well served by this boxed set, the full title of which is Give Me Strength: The '74/'75 Recordings. (Clapton was inducted as a solo artist on 6 March 2000 as its first and only "Triple Inductee." He was previously tapped as a member of Cream in 1993 and as one of The Yardbirds in 1992.) Containing remastered and expanded versions of 461 Ocean Boulevard, There's One in Every Crowd, and the live album E.C. Was Here (plus a Blu-ray disc of surround mixes), it is housed in a hardbound, 60-page book and forms an exhaustive compendium of Clapton's seminal "comeback" recordings of April 1974–June 1975, remastered and remixed. With rare, unreleased, and live recordings (along with session outtakes), the 88 tracks include "The Sky Is Crying," "Pretty Blue Eyes," "I Shot the Sheriff," "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot," "Knockin' on Heaven's Door," "Presence of the Lord," "Can't Find My Way Home," "Badge," "Willie and the Hand Jive/Get Ready," "Gambling Woman Blues," "Have You Ever Loved a Woman," "Little Wing," "Presence of the Lord," "Driftin' Blues," "Further on up the Road," "Sugar Sweet," and "Boogie Funk."

"Clapton has been a solo artist for three decades, beginning with the release of Eric Clapton in 1970. Even Derek and the Dominos, the short-lived quartet that cut the classic Layla...and Other Love Songs in 1970, was less a band of equals (ŕ la Cream) than a Clapton-piloted project that bore his highly personalized stamp. As a solo artist, Clapton has brought his singing and songwriting to the fore while maintaining his stature as rock's preeminent guitarist. Demonstrating a remarkable resilience, Clapton has managed to establish himself as a vital, hitmaking presence in every decade."—Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
