World War I widow Kate Shackleton has a knack for finding missing persons, in this debut mystery. One of Kate's friends from her stint as a nurse during the war offers to pay Kate to find her father—a wealthy mill owner who may have run off with his mistress—so that he can be at her upcoming wedding. As the resourceful Kate delves into this puzzle, though, she finds that some of the locals have secrets they would kill to protect.
