Description
With 82 songs (24 previously unreleased), this set of essential album tracks and live recordings traverses Stills' 50-year musical career, both solo ("Love the One You're With"; "To a Flame") and with the iconic bands Buffalo Springfield ("Bluebird"; "Rock 'n' Roll Woman"; "For What It's Worth"), Crosby, Stills, & Nash ("Suite: Judy Blue Eyes"; "Helplessly Hoping"), and CSN&Y ("Woodstock"). The anthology leads off with "Travelin'," which Stills recorded at age 17, continues with 1970's "No-Name Jam," on which he trades licks with Jimi Hendrix, and culminates in 2012 with CSN performing "Girl From the North Country" in New York City. Other highlights include "Welfare Blues" (1984), "Little Miss Bright Eyes" (1973), "Who Ran Away?" (1968), early demo versions of "Forty-Nine Reasons" and "The Lee Shore," and a version of "Black Coral" with all four members of CSN&Y. Debuting on CD are "Uno Mundo" and "War Games," while among the newly remixed tunes are "Everydays," "To a Flame," "See the Changes," "420," and "Change Partners," with Jerry Garcia on pedal steel guitar. Live tracks include CS&N singing "No Tears Left" in 1997 at the Fillmore and CSN&Y in 2002 at Madison Square Garden with Memphis Horns Booker T. Jones and Donald "Duck" Dunn on Otis Redding's "Ole Man Trouble." Topping off the set is a 113-page booklet.
