|
After an unexpectedly violent turn of events while on assignment in Sweden, professional assassin Jack (George Clooney) retreats to the Italian countryside of Abruzzo where he takes on one last assignment: to customize an assault rifle for his partner Mathilde (Thekla Reuten). Posing as a photographer, Jack befriends the local priest (Paolo Bonacelli) and a sensitive prostitute (Violante Placido), and seems headed for a peaceful retirement and personal redemption, until his Swedish adversaries, inevitably, track him down. Director Anton Corbijn brings a European twist to this 2010 film that is equal parts crime thriller and character study.
