|
Bud Abbott and Lou Costello trot out some of their best routines in this double feature from the comedy team's mid-1940s prime. Cast as two inept magicians in Lost in a Harem (1944), they help a Middle Eastern prince (John Conte) regain his rightful throne from his despotic uncle (Douglass Dumbrille) who uses two hypnotic rings to maintain his power. Jimmy Dorsey and His Orchestra make a guest appearance as the harem orchestra. In Abbott and Costello in Hollywood (1945), the boys play bumbling barbers-cum-talent agents who help a talented but unknown singer (Bob Haymes) get a plum role by staging a phony murder.
