An Italian artist who worked as a court portraitist in Vienna and Prague, Giuseppe Arcimboldo (1527–1593) is remembered today chiefly for his paintings of human faces composed of fruits, vegetables, flowers, and other natural produce. Six of his remarkable images are presented here on this attractive block set, at once a puzzle for all ages 3 and up and also a playful artistic object in its own right. Arrange the 2-inch blocks to reproduce any of the six original images—trickier than it seems, as they all feature flowers and veggies on a black background—or stack them up to create your own decorative structures.
