This second volume of celebrated pas de deux in historic performances includes excerpts from Swan Lake, Coppélia, Don Quixote, The Sleeping Beauty, La Esmerelda, and The Still Point (Love Duet). With music by Debussy (from String Quartet Op. 10), choreography by Todd Bolender, and tender, exquisite dancing by Melissa Hayden and Jacques d'Amboise, the latter was for us the high point of the collection and worth the price of it alone. The couple was filmed in 1962 for the Bell Telephone Hour. Also for the same program was the astonishing Diana and Actaeon pas de deux of 1964, with Svetlana Beriosova and Rudolf Nureyev (who choreographed the piece after Petipa).
