In contrast to the bygone days of Bill Monroe and His Blue Grass Boys, contemporary bluegrass is distinguished by the vocal and instrumental prowess of a number of female stars, including Alison Krauss ("Rain, Please Go Away"), Rhonda Vincent ("Kentucky Borderline"), and Claire Lynch ("Train Long Gone"). Dan Tyminski ("Wheels") plays with Krauss's Union Station, and is an excellent singer/songwriter in his own right. "Sweet Carrie" and "Head Hung Down" are performed by Dailey & Vincent, the International Bluegrass Music Association's entertainers of the year for three years running. Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, the seven-time vocal group of the year, are featured on "Sadie's Got Her New Dress On," while "Lefty's Old Guitar" by Hall of Famers J.D. Crowe and the New South pays tribute to the music of Lefty Frizzell. And "Through the Window of a Train" by Blue Highway and "Long List of Heartaches" by the Grascals point to the poignancy always inherent in the "high lonesome" sound of bluegrass music.
