For a brief, magical time in 1957, Monk and Coltrane worked together every night at New York's Five Spot Cafe. Between April and July of that year, they made these stunning tracks, which comprise their complete output together in the recording studio. In a Down Beat interview Coltrane said: "Working with Monk brought me close to a musical architect of the highest order. I learned from him in every way." Song selections include "Ruby, My Dear," "Epistrophy," "Off Minor," "Trinkle, Tinkle," "Functional," and "Nutty."
