The legendary blues-jam band expands its stylistic range on this 2001 release, addding healthy doses of funk and soul to their stellar repertoire of swinging jump blues. Guitarist Chris Vachon gets things started with some stinging riffs on the blues shuffle "Roll Me Over." The groove continues on "The Salt of My Tears," as raspy-voiced frontman McKinley "Mac" Odom turns a lover's lament into a swinging house party celebration. "Your Love Was Never There" captures the classic Stax soul sound with crisp enthusiasm, while "Wait and See" brings some rollicking boogie-woogie to the mix. Other highlights include the New Orleans funk of the title track and the concluding big-band workout "Where's Bubba?"
