One of the great guitar masters of our time, Duke Robillard is adept at a variety of styles, from rock to swing, but always has the blues at the heart of his music. After founding the band Roomful of Blues, Robillard struck out on his own, and these ten tracks are among the first recordings he made with a stripped-down trio that puts the focus clearly on his guitar playing and songwriting. All but four of the cuts are originals, including his mid-1980s classics "Give Me All You Got" and "Too Hot to Handle." Three tracks—"What That Means to Me," "Oh, Baby," and the jazz-inflected "T-Bone Boogie"—have never appeared on CD before. But it's his scorching cover of Ike Turner's "You Ain't the One" that makes this a must-have collection.
