The famed Catalan tenor displays his ravishingly pure and ardent voice in this series of celebratory concerts filmed after his recovery from leukemia. They include the Vienna Comeback Recital and La Grande Notte a Verona of 1988; A Bolshoi Opera Night, José Carreras & Montserrat Caballé, and Salzburg Recital of 1989; and Misa Crolla of 1990. In the latter bonus disc, Carreras is filmed at the 18th-century Mission Dolores in San Francisco, singing the solo part in a mass by Ariel Ramirez (who plays the organ part), as well as performing four songs by Hispanic composers. Carreras's artistic and vocal range is plentifully evident throughout the set, as he performs selections from composers ranging from Puccini, Verdi, Rossini, Bellini, and Vivaldi to Liszt, Massenet, Tosti, Berlioz, and Wagner.
