In December of 1967, at the Hilton in Pittsburgh, the Dave Brubeck Quartet played its final gig together before their leader moved on to composing orchestral pieces. This delightful mixed bag of tunes includes "Take the 'A' Train," "Cielito Lindo," "Swanee River," "You Go to My Head," "I'm in a Dancing Mood," "Three to Get Ready," and "La Paloma Azul." "Listening to it now, it comes as no surprise that Brubeck was about to focus on classically inspired works. Here he employs several series of fat block chords on 'St. Louis Blues,' 'Someday My Prince Will Come,' and 'These Foolish Things,' and plays defiantly against time on each…. Brubeck generated excitement … with his minimalist soloing on Morello's showcase 'For Drummers Only' ... concluding the evening with a long take of 'Take Five.'"—Boston Globe "When asked once what jazz was all about, Brubeck said dialogue. It's answering one another."—Neda Ulaby, NPR
