|
Published in partnership with the Louvre, this French-language book is part of a series devoted to the history of the museum's collections, including the large numbers of outstanding pieces from antiquity that have been sent to provincial museums by the Louvre. Among the 239 vases, busts, and other antiquities pictured here in color are a number of pieces from the Giampietro Campana collection, acquired for the Louvre in 1861 by Napoleon III, as well as Renaissance-era medallions seized at Gaillon Castle during the revolution.
