|
In this international award-winning film from 2006, Jafar Panahi continues his exploration of the difficulties women face in contemporary Iran. Here he follows a young female soccer fan who, disguised as a boy, sneaks into Tehran's Azadi Stadium to witness a World Cup qualifying match. She is soon arrested for defying a ban on women at men's sporting events and taken to a holding pen in the stadium where other women dressed as boys have been detained. But before being turned over to the vice squad, the women—as well as the men who are guarding them—must endure every cheer and every shout of a game they cannot see. In Farsi with English subtitles.
