Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera, the Oscar-winning directors of MGM's "Tom and Jerry" shorts, launched their own cartoon show in 1958, starring a turquoise-colored hound dog noted for his frequent off-key renditions of "Clementine." The Huckleberry Hound Show became the first cartoon to win an Emmy, in 1961, and launched one of the most successful animation empires in history. This four-disc set contains all 26 episodes of the show's first season, which introduced such cartoon icons as Yogi Bear and sidekick Boo Boo, as well as Pixie and Dixie and their nemesis Mr. Jinks the cat. Among the extras is a tribute to Daws Butler, the voice of Huckleberry, by former students including Nancy Cartwright, voice of Bart Simpson.
