"As long as my ballets are danced, I will live," said the phenomenonal Rudolf Nureyev, who left a legacy of 14 full-length ballets as well as vivid memories of his greatness as a ballet superstar. Prokofiev's rich score finds its ideal match in Nureyev's highly cinematic and colorful production, with its sumptuous scenery and costumes drawn from Italian Renaissance paintings. The documentary portion of the DVD follows the work of the artists throughout the preparations for the 2003 performance at the Opéra national de Paris.
