The Mozarteum in Salzburg was the location for this live, 2002 concert of Mozart symphonies (No. 23 in D Major, K. 181 and No. 34 in C Major, K. 338) and arias sung by Luba Orgonášová ("Chi sŕ, chi sŕ, qual sia," K. 582, "Alma grande e nobil core," K. 578, and "Exsultate, jubilate," K. 165). Maurizio Muraro provides the second portion of the performance, with the "Intermezzo giocoso" or one-act comic opera called Il maestro di cappella by Mozart's contemporary Domenico Cimarosa. Keyboardist, conductor, and scholar Ton Koopman specializes in Early Music and the Viennese school. "Dance and its rhythms are very central to this music," he says, "and it's an element I enjoy and like to bring out."
