Description

|
|
Friend, instructor, and student of Picasso, the Catalonian artist Julio González was also an accomplished painter, a talented goldsmith, and, most significantly, a skilled welder for French automaker Renault. Using a welding torch, he began making sculptures from iron and developed a formal language for linear sculpture. Filmmaker Barrie Gavin travels from Paris to the Riviera via Barcelona, visiting art experts, such as Margit Rowell, and González’s friends like Hans Hartung to illuminate the life and work of this father of modern iron sculpture.
