A founding member of the New Lost City Ramblers and a documentarian of the Abstract Expressionists, the Beats, Bob Dylan, and the "high lonesome sound" of Appalachia, John Cohen has also cultivated a 50-year fascination with the people, cultures, and landscape of Peru. This beautifully produced slipcased collection combines Cohen's photographs, sound recordings, and films of Peru in two bound volumes, three audio CDs, and five DVDs. Beginning with still images in 1956, they form a multimedia impression of his visual insights and a record of his deepening awareness, depicting religious festivals, potato farming, and the introduction of hydroelectricity, as well as a detailed study of traditional Peruvian weaving and folk music.
