Description
|
|
|
|
The late Adrienne Shelly's third and last film (from 2007) features a radiant Keri Russell as a small-town waitress and the pastry genius behind Joe's Pie Diner (run by Andy Griffith). Her secret ambition is to win a $25,000 baking competition so that she can leave her abusive husband Earl (Jeremy Sisto). Instead, she finds herself pregnant and having an affair with the new doctor in town (Nathan Fillion). As the pregnancy advances, life with Earl seems less tolerable, her relationship with the doctor complicated by his marriage, and her own options more limited than ever. Still, Shelly concocts an empowering way out of this no-win situation, a fitting legacy for a talented filmmaker who was murdered before the film's release.
