Description
|
|
|
|
Set in South America's rugged Andes Mountains, this 1947 film stars John Wayne as railroad engineer Johnny Munroe, who is assigned by a powerful U.S. mining magnate (Cedric Hardwicke) to build a railroad to his mines. The two men lock horns over the route the railroad will take. The boss wants to blast through the mountain, an extremely dangerous path, while the Duke wants to go the safe way and build a bridge. His task is complicated, and his ethics are compromised, when he falls in love with his boss's daughter (Laraine Day). A young Anthony Quinn makes an effective villain.
