This quartet of Western classics kicks off with Ride the High Country (1962), director Sam Peckinpah's feature film debut, starring cowboy icons Joel McCrea and Randolph Scott in the sunset of their careers plus Mariette Hartley in her BAFTA-nominated (Most Promising Newcomer) film debut. The Stalking Moon (1968) features Gregory Peck as an army scout leading Eva Marie Saint through Apache country. John Wayne stars in Chisum (1970), based on New Mexico's 1878 Lincoln County War. Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (1972), also directed by Peckinpah, earned a Grammy nomination for Bob Dylan's soundtrack and includes the film debut of Kris Kristofferson, also nominated for BAFTA's Most Promising Newcomer award.
