Greer Garson's Elizabeth Bennett is paired with Laurence Olivier's Mr. Darcy in the 1940 version of Pride and Prejudice, which took an Oscar for art direction. June Allyson, Elizabeth Taylor, Margaret O'Brien, and Janet Leigh play the March sisters in this 1949 adaptation of Little Women, which also won an Oscar for art direction. Jennifer Jones' Madame Bovary (1949) earned an Oscar nomination for art direction.
