|
With the blessing of range baron Donald Crisp, ex-gunfighter Steve Sinclair (Robert Taylor) has hung up his six-shooters to become a peaceful rancher. But Sinclair's tranquil existence is disrupted when his trigger-happy younger brother Tony (John Cassevetes, in one of his earliest roles) arrives at the ranch with a flamboyant new bride, former dancehall singer Joan Blake (Julie London), in tow and an aggrieved gunslinger (Charles McGraw) in pursuit. Rod Serling's taut screenplay and metaphor-rich dialogue, and Elmer Bernstein's powerful score distinguish this surprising 1958 Western from its CinemaScope peers.
