Robert Taylor reveals his comedic chops as Bushrod Gentry, a freelance trapper passing through Barren River, Kentucky, on his way to the pelts and promise of the Northwest Territory. Having avoided hostile Indians and marauding wildlife, he is bushwhacked by local beauty Mary Stuart Cherne (Eleanor Parker). It's marrying season—the preacher has arrived for his annual visit—and Mary is determined to domesticate the handsome buckskinned bachelor. Victor McLaglen and Russ Tamblyn costar as Mary's father and brother, respectively, along with a youthful Alan Hale Jr. and James Arness as a mountain man in this 1955 Western comedy.
