Description
|

|
|
Dustin Hoffman stars as the unlikely and unlikable hero of the title in this loose remake of Frank Capra's Meet John Doe, released in 1992. After ace reporter Gale Gayley (Geena Davis) is rescued from a plane crash by a mysterious, unseen foul-mouthed man (Hoffman, revisiting his Ratso Rizzo persona), she persuades her TV station to offer a million dollar reward for the man's identity. But when a gentle, homeless Vietnam vet (Andy Garcia), who was at the scene of the crash, steps forward to claim the reward and promptly donates it to charity, the real hero has a hard time making anyone believe him.
