One of the greatest LPs of all time, 1969's Dusty in Memphis was described by the New York Times as "pop music's holy grail" until it was reissued on CD in the mid-1990s. "How did a middle-class girl born in Hampstead become one of the greatest voices in the history of soul music?" queried The Independent in an article on Springfield, who prefigured by decades the advent of British neo-soul icons Adele, Duffy, and Amy Winehouse. Shelby Lynne even recorded her own version of the entire album, in tribute. In addition to the chart hit "Son of a Preacher Man," the songs include "So Much Love," "Breakfast in Bed," "Just One Smile," "I Don't Want to Hear About It Anymore," and "Just a Little Lovin'."
