Two rarely recorded octets by Haydn (Divertimento in E-flat, Hob. II, No. 13, and the Partitia in E-flat, Hob. II, No. 12) and the Partita in C Minor for pairs of clarinets, horns, and bassoons by Franz Krommer are performed with great élan in this 1999 release. "The Divertimento No. 13 … is a delightful five-movement work of a substantial 27-plus minutes…. These two winds quintets have collaborated for some years in live performances and in two previous recordings…. This current disc is a delight. These pieces are played with gusto and razor precision, never getting bogged down. The ensemble balance and tuning is excellent and performances are very committed…. The sound is clear and spacious, on the bright side, and is well balanced."—The Clarinet
